Milpera Live is a teacher-led, online program for Year 5–9 English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) students in your school.
Experienced teachers from Milpera State High School, an Intensive English Language School, deliver the program directly into your school.
The program
Our program aims to:
- build the English language and literacy skills needed for students to successfully engage with the Australian Curriculum
- develop IT skills through the use of iSee and OneNote
- support students’ sense of belonging and cultural identity.
In 2025, Milpera Live continues to trial all our programs at no cost to participating schools.
On offer now:
- 'Blue Water' program (Bandscales 2–3)
- 'All in a Game' program (Bandscales 3–4)
- 'Shark Beach' program (Bandscales 4–4+)
By providing language-focused support, through targeted and explicit teaching, these programs support students who are in their early stages of developing English language proficiency. Activities are based on the short narratives, 'Blue Water', 'All in a Game' and 'Shark Beach' written by Claire Kamber. The program provides opportunities to further develop participants’ reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Over 10 weeks, students participate in 2 x 1 hour sessions per week.
