Principal's welcome

Welcome to Milpera, a school that specialises in teaching English Language to young people newly arrived in Australia. We offer a quality program for students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Our teachers are highly experienced and have formal qualifications for teaching EAL/D (English Additional Language or Dialect) learners. The school’s curriculum also includes the teaching of Mathematics and Science, Coding, Art for relaxation and Health and Physical Education.

Good settlement and a strong sense of belonging is facilitated through carefully chosen learning experiences, an extensive extra-curricular program and valuing each child’s prior identity. This school’s many bilingual aides support students in their acquisition of English language. Additionally, the school has developed one of Education Queensland’s largest pool  of volunteers, who also specialise in helping students to develop their reading and writing skills.

At Milpera, our students learn how to thrive in an Australian classroom. The key values of hard work, being respectful, kind and ready for learning are consistently modelled. Our student-centred curriculum approach using highly contextualized language learning experiences, ensures our students improve their level of English and understanding of Australian Culture.
We welcome you to Milpera – ‘A meeting place of brothers and sisters’.
